While many of us were daydreaming on cottage docks this past summer, 25 climbers led by Dr.Graham Sher, CEO of Canadian Blood Services, spent their vacation on a mentally and physically gruelling trek to the top of Africa’s highest peak – Mount Kilimanjaro. These dedicated climbers from our corporate partners, staff and medical professionals, gave up their vacation to raise money and awareness for the Campaign For All Canadians, in support of the national public cord blood bank.

Dr. Sher, in his speech from the summit, equated their journey to the struggle faced daily by nearly 1,000 Canadian patients who are waiting for a stem cell transplant.

The climbers shared their excitement through daily pictures, social media posts and GPS tracking on the campaign website:

This was Canadian Blood Services’ first national fundraising event supporting the campaign. The climbers raised more than $350,000 in donations and were joined by several national sponsors, all in support of the national public cord blood bank.

Congratulations to the #Climb4Cord team, the sponsors and each and every donor for making this event an amazing success!
