It’s all about the cookie this year as Hollandia Bakeries Ltd and Canadian Blood Services join together to enhance the “snack factor” at blood donor clinics across Canada.

Hollandia Bakeries Ltd. of Mount Brydges, Ontario is now “The Official Cookie Provider for Donors at Canadian Blood Services” after partnering with Canadian Blood Services earlier this summer. Blood donors are already savoring three varieties of Hollandia Bakeries’ “Mini Bites” cookies at clinic refreshment areas; with four more varieties of cookies scheduled for tasty introduction over the next year.

“We are a family-owned, local business and have always been active in community organizations, but for some time now, we’ve wanted to do more. By partnering with Canadian Blood Services, our efforts will impact significantly more people,” says Dan Simile of Hollandia Bakeries. “Almost everyone knows someone helped by a blood donor, so this partnership is our very personal way of saying ‘thanks’ to those who give.”

“Hollandia Bakeries’ generous support of donor refreshments will allow us to reduce costs and redistribute those savings into the development of new programs to recruit others to give blood, as well as ways to make the experience of giving blood even better,” says Steve Harding, Executive Director, Development, Canadian Blood Services. “We are committed to expanding these partnerships and growing new ones.”

All Hollandia Bakeries’ cookies are peanut-free, a product many donors at permanent and mobile clinics, especially high school clinics, now request. All products are also trans-fat and palm oil free, and lower in saturated fats, a positive step towards the healthier snacks for which our donors have been asking.
