Great things were brewing at Canadian Blood Services’ donor clinics over the 2011 festive season.

Throughout December, donors who visited one of Canadian Blood Services’ permanent clinics were offered a special holiday treat: a free, specialty TASSIMO beverage.

This offering was the result of a partnership between Canadian Blood Services and Kraft.

Kraft’s TASSIMO system is an innovative home brewing system that uses barcode technology to read every TDISC individually and adjust for temperature, water volume and brew time.

Kraft supplied TASSIMO T65 brewers worth $250 each to 24 permanent donor clinics across the country that participated. In addition, each location also received paper cups and a one-month supply of TDISCs—allowing donors to choose between coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cappuccino, espresso or latte as part of their donation experience.

“December is such a hectic time of year, yet many of our donors still manage to find time amidst inclement weather, shopping, Christmas concerts and other festivities to attend a clinic to give blood,” says Sue Blasutti, Executive Director, Donor and Clinic Services. “We wanted to recognize the extra effort these donors made during the month of December. Our partnership with Kraft allowed us to do just that, by thanking them with a special holiday treat.”

“Kraft is extremely proud to have been part of an initiative that recognizes blood donors for all they do to save lives,” says Jonathan Lithwick, Product Manager for TASSIMO. “It has been a pleasure to partner with Canadian Blood Services and play a role in adding value to the donation experience.”
